Dou Hong

Dou Hong works as an art director for Skybound, and amazon's superhero saga Invincibles. Even though she attended the university of Cincinnati for automotive design, she always wanted to work with cartoons. Her passion for cartoons led her to work on Ben 10: Omniverse. She then continued to work on cartoons, leading to working in the industry for over 13 years. In her time, she worked at various work like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Young Justice and My Adventures with Superman.

As I looked at her work, especially her role as Art Director on Invincible, I could see how her versatility became her greatest strength. She adapts to so many different styles, and her designs feel confident and intentional. It made me think about how important flexibility is in animation, and how powerful it can be to embrace multiple aesthetics rather than sticking to just one.

Learning about Dou Hong made me reflect on my own creative journey. Her story reminds me that it’s okay to shift directions, try new mediums, and follow what actually excites me. She makes the animation industry feel a little more accessible, like there’s room for experimentation, for change, and for finding your path in unexpected ways.
